Oil Before the Crown

(1 John 2:27) says: “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you…”

The anointing we have received from God is not applause; it is empowerment. David carried a sound before he carried a scepter. He worshiped before engaging in warfare, and cultivated God’s presence before politics. Each hidden victory in his life, each lion and bear, was training for the public victory with Goliath. The oil came quickly; the crown came many years later, and the long road in between produced a king after God’s own heart.

“The Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.” (1 Samuel 16:13)

We often want confirmation to become instant coronation. But God’s timing protects us. What He develops in us matters more than what He does through us. Like Joseph’s dreams that preceded betrayal and prison. He learned delay is not denial; delay is development. God uses the wilderness to strip us of self-reliance and to anchor us in His presence.

If Heaven has spoken but your environment has not caught up, take heart. The Spirit who anoints also guides. Win the private battles in prayer and obedience. Let the hidden victories prepare you for visible assignments.

Today’s Challenge: Name one “Goliath” you are now facing. Now list two “lions and bears” God has already helped you overcome. Spend time worshipping and declaring God’s past faithfulness over today’s battle. Step into your present assignment with Spirit-led obedience.

“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” (Acts 13:22)

Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your anointing empowers us for the road ahead. Form in us a heart that chooses worship before warfare and presence before promotion. Strengthen us to win private battles and trust Your timing for public ones. Make us people after Your own heart who will do all Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
