Are You Willing to Be Interrupted?

Walking in the FOOTSTEPS of Jesus is powerful… But there is something even deeper as we learn to walk in the STOPS of Jesus.

When you study the life of Jesus in Matthew 8–9, you begin to see a pattern that is both challenging and convicting because, Jesus was INTERRUPTIBLE.

He would be on His way somewhere, on assignment, on mission, and someone hurting would cross His path.

And every single time, he stopped.

“And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him… Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’” (Matthew 8:2–3)

A leper approached Him; he was unclean, rejected, and untouchable.

Jesus didn’t avoid him…

Jesus didn’t walk away; He touched him.

On another time, a Roman centurion came with a request for Jesus to heal his servant:

“And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him.’” (Matthew 8:7)

Jesus was willing to go.

Peter’s mother-in-law was very sick.

“So He touched her hand, and the fever left her.” (Matthew 8:15)

On another occasion, the crowds had numerous needs, as some were oppressed and broken.

“He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.” (Matthew 8:16)

Even when he was exhausted…

“But He was asleep… Then He arose and rebuked the winds…” (Matthew 8:24–26)

Even when tired, He still responded.

Two demonized men lived among the tombs.

“And suddenly they cried out… ‘Have You come here to torment us before the time?’” (Matthew 8:29)

Jesus delivered them completely.

Here’s the revelation:

Jesus didn’t just walk; He STOPPED for people.

  • He stopped for the hurting.
  • He stopped for the overlooked.
  • He stopped for the desperate.
  • He wasn’t frustrated by interruptions…
  • He was moved with compassion.

Today’s Challenge:

Are we too busy to be interrupted?

Do we miss divine moments because we are too focused on schedules, tasks, and plans?

Love is rarely convenient… But it is always intentional.

Devotional Truth:

If you want to walk like Jesus, you must learn to STOP like Jesus.

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to slow me down enough to see people. Help me not rush past divine moments. Give me a heart that is moved with compassion. Make me interruptible for Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
