Daniel Fast Devotional: Day 19 – God’s Favor
Scripture: “For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12)
God’s favor is not something we strive to earn it is something we are graciously given because we belong to Him. Psalm 5 declares that the Lord surrounds His people with favor like a shield. This means His favor goes before you, stands beside you, and guards what concerns you. It is divine covering that opens doors no one can shut and provides protection where strength alone is not enough.
Fasting does not create favor, but it positions our hearts to walk in alignment with it. As we humble ourselves before God, our lives come into agreement with His purposes. Favor flows most freely through yielded hearts. When our will aligns with His, we begin to see His hand at work in both seen and unseen ways.
Favor brings distinction, not to exalt us, but to advance God’s glory. It attracts opportunity, releases provision, and brings divine connections. At the same time, favor carries responsibility. God’s blessing on your life is meant to bless others. During this fast, the Lord may be preparing you to steward His favor with humility, gratitude, and obedience.
Even in difficult seasons, favor remains. It is not removed by hardship or opposition. Like a shield, it guards you in battle and sustains you through testing. When circumstances seem uncertain, trust that God’s favor is still surrounding you.
Today, walk confidently, not in self-assurance, but in God’s grace. Lift your eyes and recognize His favor already at work in your life.
Today’s Prayer: Father, thank You for Your unearned and undeserved favor. As I fast, align my heart with Your will and help me walk in humility and obedience. Surround my life with Your favor like a shield, and use me as a vessel of Your blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today’s Focus: God’s favor surrounds, protects, and advances those who walk in alignment with Him.
