Day 20 – Strength for the Journey
Scripture: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
God never calls us into a journey without also providing the strength to complete it. Isaiah reminds us that renewal does not come from striving harder, but from waiting on the Lord. Biblical waiting is not passive, it is an active posture of trust, dependence, and expectancy. As we wait, God exchanges our weakness for His strength.
Fasting teaches endurance. As the body grows tired, the spirit learns to lean more fully on God. In that place of dependence, divine strength is released. The Hebrew picture of “wait” carries the idea of being bound together, like strands twisted into a rope. When you wait on the Lord, your life becomes intertwined with His strength, His timing, and His purposes.
God renews strength in stages. Sometimes He lifts us to soar like eagles, granting perspective and vision. At other times, He gives us the endurance to run without burning out, or the grace to keep walking when the road feels long. Each form of strength is perfectly suited for the season you are in.
Endurance is not about pushing through in your own power; it is about learning to draw daily from God’s supply. As this fast nears its completion, the Lord is equipping you for what lies ahead. What He has begun in you, He will sustain through you.
Today, pause and rest in Him. Release the pressure to perform and receive fresh strength from His presence. He is faithful to carry you all the way.
Today’s Prayer: Father, I come before You acknowledging my need for Your strength. As I wait on You, renew my spirit, refresh my soul, and empower me for the journey ahead. Help me endure with faith and perseverance, trusting that You will sustain me in every step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today’s Focus: Renewed strength comes from waiting on the Lord and walking in His power.
