Faith in the Middle of Crisis

“And she answered, ‘It is well.’” — 2 Kings 4:26

The same Shunammite woman who made room for the prophet eventually faced devastating crisis. The miracle son God gave her suddenly became sick and died. Yet what is remarkable is her response. She did not collapse emotionally. She did not spread panic. She did not allow fear to control the atmosphere. Instead, she placed the child on the prophet’s bed and declared, It is well.”

Her action was not denial; it was deep faith. She understood that panic can tilt the battle. Many people make permanent decisions in temporary storms because fear takes control. But the Shunammite woman teaches us the power of stability in crisis. What you do during times of peace prepares you for moments of war.

The Bible says her soul was in “deep distress” (2 Kings 4:27). She was hurting deeply, but she refused to let her emotions override her faith. She knew exactly where to take her crisis back to the presence of God. There comes a moment in every believer’s life when you must lay your burden on the bed of God’s presence and trust Him with what you cannot fix yourself.

Crisis comes to every home. Bad reports, heartbreak, financial pressure, sickness, unexpected loss and none of us are exempt. The question is not if storms come, but where will you take them when they do? The Shunammite woman teaches us to run toward God, not away from Him.

Today’s Challenge:

What crisis are you carrying today?

  • A burden in your family?
  • Fear about your future?
  • Anxiety over your children?
  • Emotional exhaustion?

Instead of carrying it alone, lay it before the Lord. Stop rehearsing fear and start declaring faith. This week, every time anxiety rises, speak aloud: “It is well because God is still in control.”

Today’s Prayer:

Father, today I surrender every burden, every fear, and every crisis into Your hands. Teach me to respond with faith instead of panic. Help me trust You even when I don’t understand what is happening. Fill my heart with peace in the middle of storms. Let my home become a place where faith speaks louder than fear. I declare that You are greater than every problem I face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
