Love Never Fails
The apostle Paul writing to the church at Corinth which is a gifted church, a powerful church, a Spirit-filled church and yet a divided church. They had prophecy.
They spoke in tongues. They had revelation.
They had influence. But they were struggling in love.
And under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul declares something that still shakes heaven and earth today: “Love never fails.”
The Greek word used here is agape which is not emotional love, not conditional love, not performance-based love, but a covenant, self-giving, God-kind love.
The word “fails” comes from the Greek word meaning to fall away, to collapse, to drop like a withered flower.
Paul is saying:
Everything else may collapse.
Everything else may cease.
Everything else may fade.
But agape, God’s love will never collapses.
Love Is the Most Powerful Force in the universe.
Spiritual gifts operate in seasons.
Revelation comes in part.
Knowledge increases and then passes.
But love is eternal because God is love (1 John 4:8).
Love never fails because it flows from the nature of God Himself.
When prophecy ends… love remains.
When tongues cease… love remains.
When ministries shift… love remains.
When seasons change… love remains.
Why?
Because love is not a self driven gift.
Love is developed through the Holy Spirit.
Love Is Stronger Than Offense
In all my years of pastoral ministry, I’ve seen it, people can survive hardship, but division destroys the best of friends.
Love never fails because:
Love covers (1 Peter 4:8)
Love believes the best (1 Corinthians 13:7)
Love endures all things
Love refuses to quit
The enemy attacks unity because he fears love.
He attacks marriages because he fears love.
He attacks churches because he fears love.
But when true believers choose agape over ego, revival happens.
Love Is Not Weak… It Is Supernatural Strength
The world thinks love is Soft.
The Holy Spirit knows love is Power.
Jesus on the Cross looked defeated, but love was winning.
“God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Love never fails because it won at Calvary.
When everything is Shaken, may your anchor be firmly fixed on God’s Love that will never fail.
Remember…If you walk in love, you cannot lose.
- Not because circumstances won’t fight you.
- Not because people won’t misunderstand you.
- Not because battles won’t come.
But because love is the highest law of the Kingdom.
When you walk in love, you are walking in the very character of God. And God does not fail.
Todays Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, Fill us with Your agape love. Remove offense, Break pride, Heal wounds, Restore unity.
Teach us to love when it’s easy but also especially when it’s hard. Let LifeWay Church be marked by supernatural love, the kind that heals marriages, restores prodigals, and reaches the broken.
We declare over our homes, our church, and our future that Love never fails.
