Preparation Before Promotion

“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’” (Matthew 3:17)

Before Jesus preached or preformed a single miracle, the Father affirmed Him publicly: “My beloved Son… well pleased.” The Father’s voice settled Jesus’ identity before Jesus’ ministry confronted the wilderness, crowds, demons, and crosses. The order matters: identity precedes assignment. When you live from “beloved,” you stop bargaining for approval. When you live from “anointed,” you stop waiting for perfect atmospheres to obey.

Many treat the anointing as a moment of hope to “feel.” Scripture treats it as a reality you carry not just a moment. The Spirit abides… He doesn’t commute. He teaches, leads, convicts, comforts, empowers. Agreement with Heaven isn’t arrogance; it’s Alignment. Humility is not denying what God says; it’s depending on the God who said it.

In the same way, we are called not just to experience moments of anointing but to live from the reality that we are anointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit for God’s purposes everyday of our lives.

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you.” (1 John 2:27)

We often wait for an atmosphere filled with high emotion, loud praise, outward affirmation to set the stage for us to feel usable. But agreement with Heaven is not arrogance; it is alignment. When you receive your identity from the Father, you stop striving for the approval of people. Our true identity causes our confidence to rise, our prayer to deepen, it gives us boldness, endurance, and strength because identity shapes our capacity.

Let this truth settle: In Christ, you are anointed. The Spirit abides in you to teach, to guide, to strengthen, and to lead you into God’s assignments. Not just in church but in boardrooms, classrooms, a living room, or even in a prayer room.

Today’s Challenge: Begin each morning this week by declaring Scripture-based identity out loud:

  • In Christ, I am loved (Ephesians 1:6),
  • I am anointed (1 John 2:20, 27),
  • I am a New Creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
  • I am Fearfully and Wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
  • I am Handpicked by God (1 Peter 2:9)
  • I am Chosen (Ephesians 1:4)
  • I am Strong through God’s Grace (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • I am God’s Handiwork (Ephesians 2:10)
  • I am Confident in Christ (Philippians 4:6)
  • I am Strong and Courageous (Joshua 1:9)
  • I have a purpose, future, and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11)
  • and I am sent (John 20:21).

Then ask, “Holy Spirit, how do You want to use me today?” Obey the first nudge—encourage, pray, serve, testify.

Closing Prayer Father, thank You for calling us beloved before You ever send us. Jesus, thank You for making us free to live and serve from acceptance, not for it. Holy Spirit, awaken in us, teach us, lead us, and empower us to walk in identity before assignment. We yield to Your voice today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
